How It Works
Upload a supported audio or video file to a FileGrab link and choose Transcribe. The job uses available credits. When processing succeeds, you can search, copy, or download the transcript alongside your original file.
The transcript appears in an inline panel next to the audio player or below the video, so you can read along as you listen.
Supported Formats
FileGrab supports configured audio and video MIME types, including:
- Audio: MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG, FLAC, WebM audio, and AIFF
- Video: MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI, WebM, WMV
For video files, the audio track is extracted automatically before transcription. You don't need to convert anything.
Choose Your Language
FileGrab supports transcription in multiple languages. Select the language before transcribing to improve results. Accuracy can vary with accents, background noise, audio quality, and overlapping or multiple speakers.
What You Can Do With Transcripts
- Search: Find specific words or phrases in long recordings
- Copy quotes: Select and copy any portion of the transcript
- Download: Get the full transcript as a text file alongside your media
- Share: Anyone with the link can view the transcript (no login needed)

- Podcasts: Create text versions of episodes for accessibility
- Legal depositions: Searchable reference alongside audio evidence
Privacy and Credits
Transcription is a Pro feature. Each transcription uses AI credits from your account. Audio is processed by our transcription service and the text result is stored with your file.
Transcription is not available on end-to-end encrypted files, since our servers cannot access encrypted content.
